Mediation

Mediation is cooperative process used to help people resolve conflicts. The Goal is a fair and reasonable agreement that meets the significant needs of all concerned.

Mediation is most appropriate for couples who are prepared and able to;

  • negotiate in good faith
  • keep their commitments
  • put the needs of their children first
During my mediations I encourage cooperation with other professionals such as therapists, lawyers and teachers.

Mediation – Arbitration

This hybrid process is starts off with Mediation. However, if Mediation fails, the parties begin the Arbitration process, where I write an “Award” at the end of the day on any outstanding conflicts.

This process is the conflict resolution of choice for those couples who can agree on all but two or three issues and need or require a final and binding decision in a short time frame.

Arbitration

This process has no Mediation stage at the start. The parties generally are looking for a written decision or award days after the hearing ends. Generally the parties hire their own Lawyers to present their case. The Award is filed with the Attorney Generals Office.
